DESCRIPTION:Recent developments in theoretical physics have significantly
broadened our understanding of symmetry\, revealing that it provides power
ful organising principles not only for equilibrium phases but also for dyn
amical phenomena in quantum many-body systems. Modern symmetry frameworks
 —including higher-form symmetries\, non-invertible symmetries\, and subs
ystem symmetries—have introduced new ways to characterize emergent struc
tures\, topological orders\, and collective behavior across quantum matter
and quantum field theory.\nWhile symmetry has traditionally been associat
ed with the classification of phases and conservation laws\, it is increas
ingly recognized as a guiding principle for understanding infrared dynamic
s\, constraints on low-energy excitations\, and universal responses of str
ongly correlated systems. In particular\, anomalies\, symmetry-breaking pa
tterns\, and emergent gauge structures often dictate the possible dynamica
l behaviour of quantum systems even in the absence of detailed microscopic
knowledge.\nThis workshop aims to bring together researchers working at t
he intersection of condensed matter physics and quantum field theory to ex
plore how modern symmetry concepts shape and constrain quantum dynamics. B
y encouraging interaction between these communities\, the workshop seeks t
o advance our understanding of how symmetry principles can give rise to un
iversal dynamical structures in quantum matter.\nIn this workshop\, we pla
n to cover several topics including:\n\nEmergent gauge structures and topo
logical order in quantum many-body systems\nDynamics constrained by genera
lized symmetries and anomalies\nSpontaneous symmetry breaking and collecti
ve excitations beyond the conventional paradigm\nSymmetry-based approaches
to gapless and topological systems\nInfrared universality and effective f
ield theory perspectives on quantum dynamics \n\nThe workshop is designed
to be very light\, with typical days consist of 2-3 long (1.5 hours) talk
per day with long breaks in between. The purpose of the former is for the
speaker to be able to properly introduce the background/technique before
diving into exciting recent developments while the latter allows for in-de
 pth discussions. \n\nDate and Venue\nDate: June 29 (Monday) - July 10 (Fr
iday)\, 2026\nVenue: Yukawa Institute for Theoretical Physics\, Kyoto Univ
ersity [room to be announced] \nDirections to the Yukawa Institute for Th
eoretical Physics (YITP) can be found on this page. \n\nImportant Registr
