Description
When the mass of an unstable particle is close to twice the electron mass, long-range electromagnetic interactions between the electron and positron in the loop become important. In this threshold region, the conventional perturbative expansion breaks down due to singular terms enhanced by the Coulomb interaction, and a non-perturbative treatment is required. In this work, we investigate threshold effects in particle decays into photons mediated by an electron loop. To incorporate the non-perturbative dynamics of the electron–positron pair, we employ a non-relativistic effective field theory framework and resum the Coulomb interaction to all orders.
